Quarter Horses

King Bar Leo  Quarter Horses is located in Juarez, Mexico; across the border from El Paso, Texas. It is a breeding and training operation that evolved from our love for the American Quarter Horse.

As the different disciplines in the Quarter Horse world have been getting  more and more competitive; the horses have gotten more specialized,  leaving the amateur horseman with less flexibility.  Today, you almost need a different horse for each discipline; halter Horses can barely move and cow horses might be too small and not  as attractive.

We started King Bar Leo more than 30 years ago with the simple idea of going back to the foundation, what made the American Quarter Horse so appealing. A versatile horse that could be fast, balanced and pretty; smart and good natured, and with enough cow sense to the job.

Today, our horses carry the bloodlines of Colonel Freckles, Jackie Bee, Commander King, Watch Joe Jack, The Ole Man and Zan Par Bar. Our program places mental ability as the number one criteria, followed by athleticism, cow sense and speed.

Our training program is based on placing a good reigning foundation on our horses before advancing them into the particular fields that better match their capabilities; whether it be Reigning, Team Roping, Working Cow Horse, or Barrel Racing.
